Types of Doorway Pages..
Doorway pages are just one in a long line of ways to trick search engines into ranking a website at the top of their results. They are pages which are littered with all the right keywords and initially search engines will think this is the perfect site for their searchers, while it really links to a site which is only slightly, if at all, relevant.
And as with any short cut or dirty trick, it may work for a little while or even on some of the biggest search engines, but when a doorway page is discovered, beware the wrath of a tricked search engine, just ask BMW. But if you’re like many business owners, you probably have a website designer who takes care of your site and its optimisation and while you may have made sure they didn’t include an obvious doorway page to save themselves some tedious SEO work, there are many types of doorway pages which you should be aware of.
Some people will create doorway pages which target a series of keywords, and others will create a doorway page for each of the keywords the site is targeting. This can mean that all of these doorway pages are quite similar and a search engine may see these pages and discard your website as having duplicate content.
Then there are the types of doorway pages which only search engines can see and this is useful to web designers as the search engine direct searchers to the actual website, rather than the users seeing a useless doorway page. However, these are still doorway pages and are not a long term, effective and ethical solution to SEO.
