What does "leasing" mean?

‘Leasing’ commonly understood as ‘using without owning’, is an agreement between the user (lessee) and the owner (lessor) whereby the privilege of use is offered in exchange for regular payments.
As a highly competitive business professional would optimise expenditure to generate maximum profits, leasing is the viable opportunity to grab. Why???
